1950's Style
Filter
What other decade is more closely associated with Hollywood glamour and ladylike style than the 1950s? This unique era brought the world rockabilly fashion, the Baby Boomer generation, color television, and timeless celebrity style worn by the icon’s of the time.  The fashion trends of the time moved between the 1940s swing dress silhouette and the emergence of sack dresses and shorter hemlines. Straight skirts were just as popular as traditional flare styles, while sheath dresses offered a looser, more relaxed fit around the midsection.   This comfortable approach to dressing also crossed over into suits, with open jackets gaining momentum as the preferred outer layer. Double-breasted jackets and suits replaced tight, waist-defining peplum fits, while tweed remained one of the most beloved fabrics for suiting separates. Skirts were made with high waists and shorter hemlines, and pleating details provided fullness. Pencil and trumpet skirts featured kick pleats for a playful, less structured approach to longer lengths.  Shorter, more scandalous hemlines were offset with lower high heels. Necklines ranged from draped cowls and turtlenecks to off-the-shoulder styles and glamorous, plunging halters for cocktail attire. Hats were go-to accessories, with tight-fitting bathing cap hats taking center stage. Scarves, belts, and brooches rounded out the accessories of the decade.  Our selection of 1950s-inspired contemporary clothing gives your wardrobe a taste of this distinctive and innovative era. Our throwback styles are a favorite among celebrities, capturing the magic of the silver screen.
